Why Your Exported Report Has Missing Data or Shows 0

When you Export Data, you may notice that some columns are blank, show 0, or that an expected source or process is missing from the report.

In most cases, this happens because the report only includes data that is ready for reporting. For emissions results to appear in exports, the relevant records must be approved, locked, and included in the selected reporting period.

The data is not approved, locked, or in the selected period

The most common reason data is missing from an exported report is that the records are not yet ready to be included.

For emissions results to appear in reports, records must meet all of the following requirements:

  • The record has been approved

  • The corresponding month or reporting period has been locked

  • The record falls within the report’s selected date range

A record may exist in SINAI but still be excluded from the export if it is pending approval, belongs to an unlocked month, or falls outside the selected reporting period. This also applies to the View Emissions Data page in the Measure module. Calculated emissions appear there only after the month for the corresponding records has been locked.

What to check:
Confirm that the records are approved, the relevant month or period is locked, and the record dates match the reporting period selected in the export.

A source or process has no report-ready records

Sometimes an entire source or process may be missing from the exported report.

This usually means there are no approved and locked records for that source or process within the selected reporting period.

Common reasons include:

  • Records exist but are not approved yet

  • Records are approved, but the corresponding month has not been locked

  • Records were entered for a different reporting period

  • Records were deleted

  • No records were entered for that source or process

When there is no report-ready data for a source or process, it may be excluded from the export instead of appearing as a row with 0.

What to check:
Confirm that the source or process has at least one approved and locked record within the selected reporting period.

The records were deleted

Deleted records are not included in report exports.

If data was previously entered but no longer appears in the export, the record or its related source or process may have been deleted.

What to check:
Review whether the record, source, or process was deleted. If needed, contact your administrator or support team for help confirming the status of the data.

A 0 may mean there is no approved and locked data to total

A 0 in an emissions column does not always mean the actual emissions were zero.

In some cases, it may mean there was no approved and locked data available to include in the calculation for that source, process, or reporting period.

A 0 can mean either:

  • The emissions were genuinely zero

  • There were no approved and locked records available to total

  • A specific required value was missing or not calculated

What to check:
If a 0 looks unexpected, first confirm that the related records are approved, locked, and within the selected reporting period.

Some energy fields may appear blank instead of showing 0

For some energy-related fields, the export may show a blank cell when the value is zero. This is expected behavior. A blank energy field does not always mean data is missing. It may simply mean the value is zero and is displayed as an empty cell in the export.

What to check:
If an energy field is blank, review the source record to confirm whether the underlying energy value is actually zero.

How this relates to View Emissions Data

The View Emissions Data page in the Measure module shows final emissions results by scope, business entity, and source.

At the top of the page, summary blocks show emissions for:

  • Scope 1 Emissions

  • Scope 2 Emissions

  • Scope 3 Emissions

  • Biogenic Emissions

These summaries reflect emissions for the selected organizational level and all levels below it. They also reflect the selected year or reporting period. To change the period, use the drop-down menu in the upper-right corner of the page.

Calculated emissions appear in View Emissions Data only after the month for the corresponding records has been locked. The same applies to report exports: if the relevant records are not approved, locked, and in the selected period, the data may not appear.
